A Successful Hunt

“Many kudos to Accurate Innovations for their stock design.
One thing to note: Everyone at camp, including the guides, were afraid of the recoil of the 500MDM. Retina separating was even mentioned. Well, after we were done skinning the bear, I let the guides shoot the 500MDM.
Reactions were very interesting. ‘Wow, this has almost no recoil, it is just a push.’ ‘My 30-06 kicks harder.’”

This in from Dennis in Kentucky:

“The pic shows the start of a great day. This pair is from a small pack that have been using the woods at the far end of one of our pastures. I shot them from my bench rest on my deck next to my house – range was just shy of 250yds. Notice the A/I stock on this 243Win Rem 700 BDL. That is a NightForce 8×32 NXS scope. Both were taken with 55gr Nosler Ballistic Tip bullets behind IMR4064 for 3,978 fps. Shot the male first and he dropped in his tracks. Then the dumb one came back to check on him, and I shot her as soon as she emerged from the woods.

The male had an exit hole in his side – bullet entered his chest. Female had no signs of entry or exit. I shot her in the chest also.

They are on the ground under one of the large walnut trees that provide very challenging targets so getting the wind right was not an issue. Those 55gr bullets do drift quite a bit, but I’ve made this shot at walnuts hundreds of times.”
