Don’s Dream Hunt With His Dream Gun

In his words – “Just thought that I would send along pictures of my South African plains game safari with Ingogo Safari’s, booked thru Elite Hunting USA.

The M-70 .300 Win. Mag., that I sent to you in 2009 finally got to Africa.  It performed to perfection, taking all but the Blue Wildebeest with just one shot.  This rifle is very accurate. In preparing for the adventure, that I had dreamed about since a young boy required many hours at the range.  I have been able to group three shots on numerous occasions that measure 5/8″ at one hundred yards and 1 1/2″ at two hundred.

I can’t thank you enough for the great job!

On Guns and Homeland Security

Someone forwarded me the following information. While I have not researched its accuracy, it seems reasonable and I pass it along for your consideration.

“Here’s an interesting side bar. After the Japanese decimated our fleet in Pearl Harbor Dec 7, 1941, they could have sent their troop ships and carriers directly to California to finish what they started. The prediction from our Chief of Staff was we would not be able to stop a massive invasion until they reached the Mississippi River. Remember, we had a 2 million man army and war ships……all fighting the Germans. So, why did they not invade?
After the war, the remaining Japanese generals and admirals were asked that question. Their answer. . .they know that almost every home had guns and the Americans knew how to use them.
The world’s largest army is America’s hunters!

I had never thought about this. . .
A blogger added up the deer license sales in just a handful of states and arrived at a striking conclusion:
There were over 600,000 hunters this season in the state of Wisconsin. . .
Allow me to restate that number.
Over the last several months, Wisconsin’s hunters became the eighth largest army in the world.
More men under arms than in Iran. . .
More than in France and Germany combined.
These men deployed to the woods of a single American state to hunt with firearms, and no one was killed.
That number pales in comparison to the 750,000 who hunted the woods of Pennsylvania and Michigan’s 700,000 hunters,
All of whom have now returned home.
Toss in a quarter million hunters in West Virginia and it literally establishes the fact that the hunters of those four states alone would comprise the largest army in the world.
The point?
America will forever be safe from foreign invasion with that kind of home-grown firepower.
Hunting – – – it’s not just a way to fill the freezer. It’s a matter of national security.
*************************************************
That’s why all enemies, foreign and domestic, want to see us disarmed.
Food for thought when next we consider gun control.”

Customer Kudos From Jim C.

Wes,

Finally getting you some pictures.

Firstly I wanted to say you have been excellent to deal with and anyone wanting the beauty of wood without sacrificing accuracy must talk to you.

This is the second stock you have done for me and soon I will be purchasing another. The workmanship is second to none and I am very impressed with the finished product. The rifle also shoots as good as it looks.

I have enclosed some pictures, as well as a couple including the target I shot. The rifle shot a 5 shot group measuring just under ½”  awesome!!!

Advice to a New Gun Owner
You picked out a weapon — good! Now go train.
Go learn how to use it to hit where you aim.
Learn when you can shoot and when you must not,
Learn how to clear jams and make a fast shot.
But do not believe that your skill at arms
Means that you never again could face harm.
The world is still ugly, and your thousand yard stare
Might be unseen by the chump over there.
Don’t fuss and don’t quibble and don’t worry about it.
Just carry your handgun. Don’t leave home without it.
And when the battle comes down, as battles must do,
To a clash of the wills between the bad guy and you,
Your will must be stronger than the evil you face
The mere fact of the gun will not take its place.
Far more decisive than the caliber’s name
Or the shape of the gun or the size of its frame
Is the knowledge and skill that choose point of aim.
(Misses with guns big and small are the same!)
The gun that you carry strapped firm to your side
Might hold some of your hope and all of your pride
But it isn’t your weapon: the fire in your eyes
And the wiliest schemes your mind can devise
Are far more important than the brand of your gun,
And far more important than how fast you can run.
What carries the day when the battle is nigh,
Is the Will that refuses simply to give up and die —
The Will that commands your eye not to blink,
And forces paralyzed mind to nonetheless think —
The Will that requires your aim still be true
No matter what damage may terrify you.
So I’ll say it again, though I sound like a fool:
Your Will is the weapon. Your gun is a tool.
Your gun may save the day; then again, it may not.
But if a brand name and caliber are all that you’ve got
The game’s already over and your life may be done —
For you still are not armed. You’re just holding a gun.

Recent Customer Comments

One of the more enjoyable aspects of this business is the wonderful comments from our customers. Here are some recent ones:

“The outward appearance of the stock was beautiful, but the real beauty of this stock was on the inside, I couldn’t believe my eyes, that’s some of the best workmanship I have seen.  …When I took the action out of the stock I couldn’t believe the engine under the hood. Thanks again.” Frank

“I wanted to relay to you my thanks for the wonderful job you did on the restocking of my rifle (Winchester model 70 in 7mm WSM.) The pepper laminate stock is beautiful. I have shot it once and the improvement in accuracy was notable. I was able to shoot factory ammunition at or under 1 inch at 100 yards.” Steven

“I have just collected my stock from the post office and what can I say? That is the best stock making I have ever seen! It is absolutely beautiful! Way better than I hoped it would turn out.” Michael

Wes, I just return from Namibia and thought I’d send a photo of me, my trusty rifle and a very nice Gemsbok. Everything worked well and received compliments from the PH, the trackers, and my hunting companions on the beautiful piece of wood my .375 HH was fitted into. I was also able to utilize my prized possession on a Kudu, black Wildebeest and two zebras.

Now on to elk season.

Happy 4th of July

image

We are blessed to have a great heritage handed down to us by great men like George Washington. Here are some quotes attributed to him that reflect his views on two very important subjects:

On Guns:

"Firearms stand next in importance to the constitution itself. They are the American people’s liberty teeth and keystone under independence … from the hour the Pilgrims landed to the present day, events, occurrences and tendencies prove that to ensure peace, security and happiness, the rifle and pistol are equally indispensable … the very atmosphere of firearms anywhere restrains evil interference — they deserve a place of honor with all that’s good."

On God:

" It is impossible to rightly govern the world without God and the Bible.”

"To the distinguished character of patriot, it should be our highest glory to add the more distinguished character of Christian." [May 2, 1778, at Valley Forge]

Does anyone still identify with him? Leave me a comment and have a wonderful 4th of July weekend.
